Three Mobile Mistakes That Might Cost You Dearly

Mobile phones are obviously indispensable during business travel. Probably none of us would consider traveling without one. Furthermore Smartphones like iPhones and Blackberries are virtual Swiss army knives letting us do all kinds of useful tasks.
With the utility of Smartphones comes risk, especially if your phone has sensitive corporate information or mobile banking data on it.
Here are three tips to keep you save and your travel painless:
Password Protection
Almost every phone supports password protection. The easiest way for a bad guy to hack your phone isn’t with fancy technology, but to simply grab your phone and take a look around. Chances are you have lots of sensitive information readily available in emails and text messages. If hackers wanted to work hard, they’d get a job.
Don’t Click Links & Enter Sensitive Info
You probably know not to click an email link on your computer and enter sensitive information. This bad guy technique is called “phishing.” Unfortunately some banks send text (SMS) messages with links to mobile web pages. There’s no way to tell a real site from a hacker site. Just don’t do it. Do consider changing banks, though.
Use Secure Tokens if you can
Using secure tokens like RSA SecureID significantly increases the security of both mobile and online applications. Secure tokens make it extremely difficult for a hacker to access your account. Unfortunately, very few institutions offer secure token protection on mobile accounts yet.
